Meaningful Economics

Each spring students in Grades 3—6 are invited to participate in the annual Meaningful Economics competition held at the University of Delaware. The Meaningful Economics competition recognizes the acquisition and application of knowledge in economics, entrepreneurship, and personal finance. Each team of 4 members participates in three events: production, test, and problem solving. In the problem solving event students are asked to create a product, develop an advertising campaign, and give an oral presentation on their solution to the problem.

In 2009-2010 MOT Charter School had another great showing at the annual Meaningful Economics Competition!

  • Teams in grades 3, 4, and 6 earned first place in problem solving
  • The 6th grade team earned the highest score ever awarded in the history of the ME competition
  • The 4th grade team also place 2nd in the written test
  • The 3rd grade team place third in the written test
