Arts Academy Portfolio Submission: the final step in completing your application.

Arts Academy applicant portfolios and performance recordings are utilized by the instructor to assess a student’s relative strengths and areas of growth within the student’s selected art. This allows the instructor to see a student’s passion and to better plan the programming for the incoming class.

Prospective Arts students are encouraged to review the portfolio rubric, by clicking the appropriate image below, before developing their admission portfolio.  Reviewing these criteria will help your student development a submission which clearly reflects them in their artist interest.

PLEASE NOTE: For the 2017-2018 school year, incoming Arts students should submit their portfolio - no later than May 19, 2017 - by one of the following ways:

•  If your portfolio file size is 20MB or less, use the electronic submission form below, or

•  Mail or hand deliver the portfolio to the High School campus located at 1275 Cedar Lane Road, Middletown, DE 19709

Portfolios and auditions are utilized by the instructor to assess a student’s relative strengths and weaknesses within the area they are applying for. This allows the instructor to see a student’s passion for their art and to plan the programming for the incoming class.

Directions for Submitting the Dance Performance Video

  1. The video should begin with you introducing yourself: first and last name, the grade you are entering at MOT Charter School and a brief statement regarding your interest in majoring in dance.
  2. Prepare a video of yourself presenting two contrasting dance performances. One of the performances should be classical ballet, tap or jazz.
  3. Each dance performance should be 2-3 minutes long.
  4. The dance performances should highlight your talents, strengths and passion as a dancer.

  1. The video should begin with you introducing yourself: first and last name, the grade you are entering at MOT Charter School and a brief statement regarding your interest in majoring in theater.
  2. Prepare a video of yourself presenting two monologues from published plays. State the title of the play prior to each performance. One monologue should be dramatic; the other comedic.
  3. Each monologue should be 1-3 minutes long.

  1. Prepare a digital file with any three of the following:
  • A set of 4 photographs each highlighting a different area of study.
  • A graphic design (either an advertisement or logo).
  • A website (not from a template builder).
  • A video (2 minutes or longer) including a variety of shots/edits/special effects.
  • A two-page fiction or non-fiction written composition.
  • 2 poems
  1. A short written description should accompany each work which describe the components used and your reflection.
  2. Make sure that the works and ideas are your own, completed only by you not taken from any published sources.

  1. The portfolio should include: At least 3 pieces of your own work, in a variety of media which best represent your interest and ability as a visual artist.  Include a statement about your preferred medium and why you are interested in majoring in visual arts.
  1. A short written description should accompany each work. In this, describe your goals in creating the piece, the techniques utilized and your reflection on each.
  2. In your portfolio make sure that the works and ideas are your own, completed only by you and not taken from any published sources.

  3. Sing your range from lowest to highest and state the vocal part (Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, Bass) which you typically sing in an ensemble.
  4. Perform two solos in contrasting styles. State the title and composer prior to each performance. Please ensure that any recorded accompaniment does not include vocal tracks.
  5. Each performance should be 2-3 minutes long.
  6. The vocal performance should highlight your talents, strengths and passion as a singer.
