MOT Charter School has a long history of participating in Odyssey of the Mind (OM), which fosters creative thinking and cooperative skills in students.  We have experienced great success in Odyssey competitions and have had many groups place at the regional, state and national level.

Again this year, the K-8 Academy has a team participating and we need your help. Our K-8 Academy team must provide at least one Odyssey judge and at least one Odyssey volunteer.  Judges complete one day of training, either on Saturday, February 11th at Dickinson High School or Saturday, February 18th at Laurel Middle/High School. Judges then participate in the actual competition held on Saturday, March 4th by scoring teams in a particular challenge.  You get to spend the day seeing creative, hardworking, thoughtful students at their best and many adults participate in judging year after year.  For anyone who is a teacher in Delaware, all hours for Odyssey judging can count towards your recertification clock hours.  OM will train all of the judges so no prior experience is necessary and if you have a relative who would like to participate, they would count for MOT as well.

In order for the K-8 Academy to participate in Odyssey of the Mind, we also must have at least one Mustang Student volunteer at the competition in March.  Volunteers may help with totaling scores, giving directions within the building, manning a table, hospitality, or anything else to make the event run smoothly.

If you can be either a judge or a volunteer and support our Mustangs at Odyssey of the Mind, please contact Dr. Weiss at Mitch.Weiss@mot.k12.de.us.
